Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to meet Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheál Martin in Dublin on Tuesday. This will be the first official visit to Ireland by a Ukrainian president and first lady.

President Zelensky is also scheduled to meet newly-inaugurated Irish President Catherine Connolly on a courtesy call, according to the Irish government. In addition, he will attend the inauguration of the Ireland-Ukraine Economic Forum, alongside the Tánaiste (Irish deputy prime minister) Simon Harris and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Helen McEntee.

More than 120,000 Ukrainian refugees have sought refuge in Ireland since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, with approximately 80,000 currently residing in the country. The visit is seen as an opportunity to enhance the strong ties between Ireland and Ukraine, with the Irish government emphasizing its support for Ukraine amidst its struggle against Russian aggression.
