Eight individuals were pronounced guilty in connection with the notorious heist that targeted US reality television star Kim Kardashian in Paris nearly ten years ago. The court has issued prison sentences to the four main culprits involved in the dramatic armed robbery, which took place during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016 and resulted in the theft of $10 million worth of jewelry, including a diamond engagement ring.
While the principal offenders received sentences of up to eight years, most were granted suspended terms, allowing them to evade immediate incarceration. Two other suspects were acquitted in this high-profile case that drew media attention globally.
During the trial, Kardashian took the stand for five hours and shared her harrowing experience, describing it as "the most terrifying experience of my life," and highlighted the lasting repercussions that the incident had on her and her family. "While I'll never forget what happened," she emphasized, "I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all."
The robbery unfolded between the night of October 3 and 4, 2016, while Kardashian was staying at the Hotel de Pourtales in central Paris. The two primary defendants, Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, and Yunice Abbas, 71, were identified through DNA evidence collected at the scene, and both admitted to their roles in the crime.
Khedache received an eight-year prison sentence, with five years suspended, while Abbas, along with Didier Dubreucq, faced a seven-year sentence, also with a five-year suspension. Another gang member, Marc-Alexandre Boyer, 35, was handed a similar sentence. This verdict marks a crucial chapter in a case that has remained emblematic of celebrity crime in recent years.
