Stone highlighted that the Potus (President of the United States) and Flotus (First Lady of the United States) accounts had previously displayed the names and images of Joe Biden and Jill Biden. He mentioned that there would be a delay in processing follow and unfollow requests during this transition period. Trump, who recently began his second term, promptly rolled out a series of executive orders aimed at solidifying his political agenda, which included significant policy changes related to the World Health Organization and U.S. border issues.

The inauguration attracted numerous tech industry leaders, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and X (formerly Twitter) boss Elon Musk. Trump has a historical antagonism toward Meta, especially after being banned in 2021 for comments made during the January 6 Capitol riots. In the past, accusations surfaced that Meta collaborated with the Biden administration to suppress information regarding Hunter Biden and the Covid pandemic, a claim that Zuckerberg later expressed regret over.

Despite his past criticisms of Zuckerberg, Trump has recently made overtures to the tech executive, demonstrated by private dinners and a financial donation of $1 million for Trump's inauguration. Meta is also adapting its content moderation policies by abolishing third-party fact-checking, reverting to its foundational principle of promoting free expression, which aligns with some of Trump's criticisms about social media practices.
